We currently have 15 RABEN teams, and we are proud to say that in the last 11 years, our RABEN teams have rescued 81 whales.
So far this season we have rescued 7 whales, 4 in Bay Banderas, 2 in Los Cabos, and 1 in La Paz:
These rescues are thanks to the workshops that the teams receive each year before the start of the whale season.
This season we trained a total of 110 people in workshops and drills to respond to large whale entanglements in La Paz, Mazatlán, and Banderas Bay.
We were able to accomplish this thanks to the local support of RABEN members and staff from the Protected Natural Areas (CONANP), funding from RIU Hotels & Resorts, World Wildlife Fund Mexico (WWF), and Fundación Ecológica Biomar.
RABEN Uniforms and rescue tools
It is necessary to have a uniform and tools in order to rescue whales safely and quickly.
Uniforms and equipment was distributed to the different RABEN team members, including 200 pairs of gloves, 200 t-shirts, 200 caps, 15 Pelican-type hermetic boxes, and 15 first aid kits.

What should you do if you come across an entangled whale?
It is critical to receive reports on time and with accurate information in order to save the whales. Please help us spread this video. The most important thing to remember is that you should never go into the water to try to save a whale because you would be putting your life in danger. These types of reports should only be attended by those who have received the necessary training and authorization (RABEN).
