VOLUNTEERING

At ECOBAC we try to always involve the local community

Not just by informing, but also by inviting them to be part of our projects and programs, this is why we are always open to receive volunteers.

We have had so many experiences

Without a doubt the most positive outcome is that we have met really committed people, eager to support the noble cause of the conservation of our marine environment, especially the whales.

OUTREACH AND ENVIROMENTAL EDUCATION

Activities

  1. Working alongside “Kuikani” our special life-size inflatable whale calf, we promote the campaign “I Care for the Whales”; in the exhibition module of ECOBAC, mainly by providing information about good navigation practices during the whale season.
  2. Distributing flyers about the Mexican whale watching regulations (the NOM-131-SEMARNAT-2010) and the campaign “I Care for the Whales” in the marinas of Riviera Nayarit (La Cruz de Huanacaxtle), Nuevo Vallarta, Vallarta, Los Peines and OPEQUIMAR fuel station. Schedule: Mornings and afternoons, mainly from 10:00 am to 1:00pm.
  3. With the “Ballenometro”, a specially adapted “whale” traffic light, we inform the local community and visiting tourists about which marine activities are beneficial, indifferent or harmful for the whales.
  4. Environmental education in schools and libraries. Educating children about marine mammal diversity and caring for the environment, via educational games and interactive modules.
  5. Talks in the marinas in order to familiarize sailors about the good sailing practices during the whale watching season and for them to know what to do in case they find an entangled whale.
  6. With “La Bonita”, join us in this unique experience in our 13 meter long interactive whale, where we will raise awareness about humpback whales, their anatomy, feeding and much more.
